In the first eight months of this year, the number of foreigners entering Mainland China visa-free reached 15.89 million.
At the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum 2025 held on the 18th in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, Chinese authorities revealed at the Immigration Management Cooperation sub-forum that from January to August this year, China's border inspection authorities checked a cumulative total of 460 million cross-border travelers, an increase of 14.9% compared to the same period last year.
Among them, mainland Chinese residents accounted for 220 million trips, residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan accounted for 180 million trips, up 15.4% and 11.2% year-on-year respectively; foreigners accounted for 51.268 million trips, an increase of 27.8%. Of these, 15.89 million foreigners entered visa-free, accounting for 62.1% of all inbound foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 52.1%.
