(Bandar Seri Begawan, 8th) Eid al-Adha is to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail, who set an example by truly obeying the will of Almighty Allah—even in extremely difficult circumstances.
As followers of Prophet Muhammad, we are also called to uphold this obedience: to fulfill the commands of Almighty Allah and avoid prohibitions.
The Sultan of Brunei delivered a speech on the evening of the 6th in commemoration of the 2025 Hijri Eid al-Adha.
His Majesty emphasized that Islam requires its followers to uphold the principle of mutual counsel in promoting good.
Among the people, there must be a group advocating justice and forbidding evil.
Those with the ability to do so are obliged to take action—remaining silent in the face of wrongdoing is considered sinful, as it does not support the religion of Almighty Allah.
This obligation aligns with the interpretation of verse 7 in the Quran:
“O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.”
His Majesty further urged religious figures—preachers, missionaries, and others tasked with upholding the mission of Islam—to provide advice and guidance sincerely, truthfully, fearlessly, and without hesitation.
In today's challenging times, religious consultation is more important than ever, provided it follows the teachings of “Prophet Muhammad,” avoiding slander or incitement.
In fulfilling the duty of proclaiming Islamic teachings, His Majesty emphasized the importance of sincere intentions: to protect both the preacher and the audience from sin and misfortune in this life and the hereafter.
On this sacred occasion, His Majesty also prayed for the Bruneian pilgrims currently on pilgrimage in the holy land, wishing them health and a smooth completion of their pilgrimage.
His Majesty expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah and sincerely thanked the people of Brunei, heads of state, government leaders, and royal family members for their prayers and blessings during the King’s rest period following his attendance at the ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
His Majesty especially thanked the National Heart Institute of Malaysia for the excellent care and service provided during his visit.
Finally, His Majesty, along with members of the royal family, extended Eid al-Adha blessings to all Bruneian Muslim citizens and residents, wherever they may be, hoping everyone celebrates this sacred moment with joy, peace, and gratitude.
