Roommates Sell Amy Winehouse's Belongings for Profit: Father Files Lawsuit to Recover £400,000

Published at Dec 10, 2025 09:03 pm
British pop diva Amy Winehouse passed away in 2011 due to alcohol poisoning at the age of 27. Recently, her father Mitch has filed a lawsuit in court accusing two of his daughter's roommates of profiting by selling Amy's belongings without permission.

The father claimed that the items auctioned by the roommates belonged to Amy. He said that his daughter's two roommates, Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay, held an auction in Los Angeles in 2021 named “Miss Winehouse's Wardrobe,” featuring 700 items of Amy's clothes and possessions donated by the family.

According to Mitch, the auction was originally intended for charity, but he later discovered that the two roommates had privately sold 150 of the items (most of them clothing) and made a large profit. On the 8th, Mitch appeared in London court to express his dissatisfaction and hopes to recover the £730,000 (approximately 4 million Malaysian Ringgit) from his daughter's roommates, so he can donate the proceeds to a foundation named after his daughter to build a school in the Caribbean.
