Emergency State Lifted in Songkhla Province, Southern Thailand

Published at Dec 05, 2025 11:22 am
The state of emergency in Songkhla Province, Thailand, will be lifted starting December 5.

On the 4th, Thai Prime Minister Anutin signed the order to lift the emergency status. According to the plan, Anutin will visit Songkhla Province before the 6th to inspect and oversee local rescue and post-disaster recovery efforts.

Since mid-November, continuous heavy rainfall in southern Thailand has caused floods, with Songkhla Province being severely affected. At least 140 people have died, and Hat Yai within the province is a hard-hit area, suffering significant casualties and property losses. To ensure public safety, maintain order, and respond to disaster losses, the Thai government issued an emergency decree under the Emergency State Law on November 25, declaring a state of emergency in Songkhla.

As water levels recede and the disaster eases, administrative management and public health services among other sectors have now returned to normal operations with the joint support of local governments and the entire nation. Based on the ongoing improvement of the flooding situation in the area, the government has decided to cancel the state of emergency in Songkhla Province.
