(Miri, 23rd) Lin Jiayu, a student singer from Pei Chung, won the championship in the youth category at the 31st AIA Children's and Youth Mandarin Singing Competition Miri district selection.
The competition was organized by Miri Changhong Cultural and Entertainment Society on June 20th at Star City Mall. Lin Jiayu, a senior two student from Pei Chung, stood out among the contestants with her steady stage presence, pure vocal tone, and excellent song interpretation, claiming the top prize.
In addition, two other Pei Chung students—Hong Xinyi and Tian Yuxin—received Merit Awards.
This year’s competition gathered outstanding young singers from the AIA region to compete on one stage, further elevating the level of Mandarin vocal arts. With strict evaluations by veteran judges, the overall standard was especially high, and competition was fierce.
Lin Jiayu will go on to represent Miri in the AIA Children's Singing Grand Finals in Sibu.
Pei Chung Principal Bei Meijiao said that for students to stand on the champion's podium is no accident, but an affirmation of their vocal artistry; this honor embodies the students’ hard work and perseverance, and also reflects the spirit of striving for excellence and never giving up.
She said that the school has always adhered to the educational philosophy of "emphasizing all five areas of development," not only focusing on students' academic growth but also encouraging them to actively participate in arts, sports, and various extracurricular activities. She firmly believes that arts education can cultivate one’s temperament, nurture confidence, and enhance aesthetic ability, allowing students to discover their potential and value through diverse development.
She hopes the award-winning students will maintain their passion for music, continue to progress on their musical journeys, break new ground on future stages, and achieve even greater success.
