(Kuching, 22nd) Kuching-Sarawak Zhang Clan Association held its 2026 Members' Annual Meeting at 2pm on June 21 (Sunday) at the association's premises, during which the 6th Council (2026-2029), 5th Youth and Women’s Committees (2026-2029) were elected, and the 2026 Excellent Academic Award was presented to members’ children. The meeting was enthusiastically attended by members, fully demonstrating the support and care of clan relatives for the association.
President Zhang Tean Pau, in his speech, thanked members for their long-term support and care toward the association. He stated that as a surname clan association, Kuching-Sarawak Zhang Clan Association shoulders the important mission of promoting kinship, uniting clan relatives, and passing on culture. The Zhang surname has a long history, with a shared ancestor, culture, and bloodline. He hopes everyone will continue the spirit of unity and mutual help, strengthen ties, and jointly maintain and develop the Zhang family.

He mentioned that in recent years, the association has actively organized various activities to promote member exchanges and heritage of Zhang culture. This year, for the first time, a "Zhang Family Archery Competition" was held. Because the Chinese character “Zhang” is composed of "bow" and "long," it is closely related to China’s traditional archery culture. Therefore, he hopes that through this activity, the younger generation can further understand the origins of the Zhang surname culture and continue its fine traditions.
He pointed out that each election is an important moment for carrying on the past and opening up the future. The emergence of the new leadership team not only symbolizes the passing on of responsibilities but also injects new vitality into the association. He hopes the new council will continue to uphold the spirit of serving members, work in unity to promote association development, and create a better future.
Zhang Tean Pau also thanked the Permanent Honorary Advisor Tan Sri Dato' Chang Sze Kuo, Permanent Honorary President Chang Hock Chin, all honorary advisors, and legal advisors for their long-term support and guidance. He also expressed gratitude to the council members for their high level of cooperation, allowing steady development of the association’s affairs.

On the day, the election of the 6th Council and the 5th Youth and Women’s Committees was successfully completed. With the support of all members, the new leadership was smoothly formed.
