Colombian Presidential Candidate Shot, Covered in Blood for Emergency Treatment

(Colombia, 8th) Colombian right-wing opposition senator and presidential candidate for next year, Tulvuy was shot and injured in the capital, Bogota, on the 7th.
Bogota Mayor Galán said that candidate Miguel Uribe Tulvuy is undergoing emergency treatment, and the shooter has been arrested.
Videos circulating on social media show Tulvuy at a campaign event in a park, when gunfire suddenly erupted as he was speaking in front of several people. Other footage shows Tulvuy falling onto the hood of a white car, covered in blood, as a group of men attempt to lift him.
Colombian Foreign Minister Sarabia wrote on social media: “Violence should never be the way to solve problems... I sincerely hope Tulvuy is safe and out of danger.”

Tulvuy announced his candidacy for the 2026 presidential election last October.
Tulvuy is affiliated with the conservative opposition Democratic Center Party, which was founded by former President Álvaro Tulvuy. Although they share the same surname, they are not related.
According to a statement from the Democratic Center Party, Tulvuy was holding a campaign event in a park in the capital when he was “attacked from behind by armed assailants.” The party strongly condemns this serious attack but did not disclose further details about Tulvuy's injuries.
The Colombian presidential office stated that the government “resolutely and strongly” condemns this violent attack.
Bloomberg pointed out that Uribe is the grandson of former President Tulvuy and the son of the late journalist Diana Tulvuy.
