A street attack recently took place in Pai, a well-known tourist mountain town in northern Thailand, attracting public attention. A Chinese woman allegedly suddenly pulled the hair of a Thai woman who was holding a baby. Local police have already taken the woman into custody according to a court-issued arrest warrant.
According to a compilation of reports from Thai media on the 16th, after the incident came to light, residents of Pai in Mae Hong Son province claimed the suspect had previously caused trouble in the community. However, these claims have not yet been confirmed by police.
Some members of the public posted on social media, saying that the Chinese woman in question had been living in Pai for some time, and had previously displayed repeated loss of emotional control and disturbance of public order, which has troubled many residents. Some netizens have urged relevant authorities to deport the Chinese woman.
The incident occurred on the evening of the 13th. A Thai woman was standing at the entrance of a pharmacy in downtown Pai holding her young child, when a Chinese woman suddenly approached. Without any prior conversation, argument, or conflict, she reached out, grabbed the woman’s hair, and pulled hard, frightening the victim.
The pharmacy owner and the victim’s husband immediately tried to intervene and stop the woman when they saw what was happening, but the suspect still managed to flee the scene before the police arrived. Afterward, with the help of the pharmacy owner, the victim brought surveillance footage to report the case at the Pai police station.
After investigating, the police applied to the court for an arrest warrant, and the Pai court officially approved it on the 15th. According to the warrant, the suspect is a Chinese woman named Su Qi (transliteration), alleged to have violated laws against "using violence against others without causing physical or mental harm" as well as "bullying, harassment, threats or other acts causing humiliation or distress to others."
