(US, 16th) Anonymous US officials state that President Trump vetoed Israel's plan to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei.
An unnamed senior US official revealed to AFP on Sunday (June 15th), "We learned of Israel's plan to assassinate Khamenei, and President Trump expressed opposition. We told Israel not to do it."
Earlier that day, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, when interviewed by Fox News, avoided questions about reports that Trump had asked Israel not to assassinate Khamenei.
He told Fox News: "I don't want to talk about this. But I can tell you... we will do what we need to do, and I think the US knows what's in its best interests."
Israel and Iran launched another round of missile attacks on Sunday, with missile explosions heard over Jerusalem, prompting authorities to urge residents to take shelter in bunkers, while Tehran reportedly activated its air defense systems.
