On the 9th, Hamas issued a statement strongly condemning Israel's attack on Qatar and confirmed that members of Hamas were killed in the attack, but stated that the Israeli plot to assassinate senior Hamas leaders had “failed.”
The statement said that the attack resulted in six fatalities, including the director of senior official Haniyeh's office and Haniyeh's son, as well as a member of the Qatari security services. The attack was described as “an appalling crime, a blatant act of aggression, and a flagrant violation of international norms and laws,” further revealing Israel’s attempt to undermine any chances of reconciliation.
The statement pointed out that the negotiating delegation was attacked while discussing the latest proposal from U.S. President Trump, which was proof that the Israeli government had no intention of reaching any agreement.
The statement also asserted that the U.S. government “shares responsibility for this crime.”
The statement concluded that this attack will not change Hamas’s stance or demands—an immediate cessation of aggression, a complete withdrawal of occupying forces from Gaza, and the provision of relief and reconstruction assistance to the Palestinian people. The attack cannot prevent Hamas from “defending national rights,” and Hamas will “continue on the path of resistance.”
