The Public Works Department urges the public to verify the information source before sharing or disseminating such content, to avoid causing public misunderstanding and unnecessary panic. At the same time, the department also reminds that spreading false or misleading information is an illegal act.
According to Section 34, Chapter 148 of the Public Order Act, anyone found guilty of spreading false information may be fined up to BND 3,000, imprisoned for up to 3 years, or both.
