(Sibu, 29th) Preparations for the 2026 Asia Pacific Lions Leadership Summit have entered their final sprint, with the organizing committee confirming that Lions leaders and representatives from 19 countries and regions will gather in Sibu next month to attend one of the most influential Lions leadership summits in the Asia Pacific region.
This year's summit, hosted by Lions Clubs International District 308-A2, will be held from July 17 to 19 at the Kingwood Hotel in Sibu. Senior Lions leaders from the Asia Pacific region will convene to strengthen international friendships, enhance leadership abilities, and explore new directions for humanitarian service collaboration.
The summit agenda is rich and varied, including leadership forums, membership development courses, service program discussions, community service activities, cultural exchange projects, a welcome dinner, the Director's Inauguration and Cabinet Installation Banquet, as well as a closing luncheon.
With less than a month to go before the summit, the organizing committee recently held its final coordination meeting at the Kingwood Hotel, conducting final deployments for each execution detail to ensure the smooth running of the international event.
The meeting was chaired by Organizing Committee Chairperson Dato Wong Yan Ping, with a focus on reviewing all aspects of logistics, including delegate reception, protocol procedures, transportation, registration process, banquet arrangements, seating plans, media coordination, and the overall activity flow.
All working group members attended the meeting, demonstrating a high level of teamwork and pledging to do their utmost to create a smooth and memorable summit experience for international attendees.
Wong Yan Ping stated that the enthusiastic participation of representatives from 19 countries and regions marks an important milestone for Sibu and Lions Clubs International District 308-A2.
She said the summit will serve as a key platform for Asia Pacific Lions leaders to share experiences, best practices, and deepen partnerships to jointly advance humanitarian service in the region.
She pointed out that, in addition to the official agenda, the event will also showcase Sibu’s multicultural characteristics, the warm hospitality of Borneo, and unique local tourism resources to overseas delegates, further enhancing Sibu’s international profile.
Wong Yan Ping also called on all committee members and volunteers to continue close cooperation in the final stage of preparation, upholding the Lions’ "We Serve" spirit and welcoming every international guest with passion and professionalism.
She believes that this summit will not only strengthen collaboration among Lions organizations internationally but also further demonstrate Sibu’s ability to host large-scale regional and international events.
