Iran's New Supreme Leader Vows Not to Abandon Revenge, Continues to Block Strait of Hormuz

Published at Mar 13, 2026 10:37 am
On the 12th, Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba issued a statement declaring that Iran will not give up on seeking revenge, will continue to use the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as a means, and called on neighboring countries in the region to promptly close U.S. military bases.

This is Mojtaba’s first statement since taking office as Supreme Leader, and the contents include seven sections: the martyred revolutionary leader, the role and responsibility of the people, armed forces, administrative institutions, the resistance front, regional countries, and how to respond to enemies.

In the statement, he first mourned the slain Supreme Leader Khamenei, praised Khamenei's contributions to Iran, and said that taking on the responsibility of Supreme Leader is a great burden.

The statement emphasizes the importance of unity among the Iranian people, stating that the unity and courage of the Iranian people guarantee national stability. Iran will continue to strike at military bases in the region used to attack Iran, continue to use the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as a means, and is also studying how to open up new fronts on the enemy's “less experienced and more vulnerable lines.”

The statement points out that Iran will never give up on revenge, seeking revenge not only for the slain Supreme Leader but also for every Iranian who has been killed. It also condemns enemy attacks on Iranian schools, stating that "such crimes will be subject to special accountability."

The statement says the enemy has set up military bases in some neighboring countries, some of which have been used to attack Iran. Iran has not attacked neighboring countries, but has only struck enemy bases, and in the future, Iran will continue to take similar actions when necessary.

The statement urges neighboring countries to clarify their positions and calls for these countries to close U.S. military bases as soon as possible, since "the U.S. claim of bringing security and peace is nothing but a lie." Iran has no intention of establishing any form of hegemony in the region and is fully prepared to build unity and sincere relations with all its neighbors.

The statement promises to provide free medical care to the injured and compensation for property losses.

The statement notes that Iran must obtain compensation from the enemy no matter what. If the enemy refuses to compensate, Iran will seize its property. If seizure is not possible, Iran will destroy property of equivalent value.
