In the season of festive songs rushing to debut, multi-talented and versatile Che Zi (Che Zhi Li) has also announced his entry into the fray, releasing a brand new single this year entitled "Congratulations," and has invited several friends to join the fun, making him exclaim that he's racked up quite a few friendship debts! In the "Congratulations" MV, Che Zi not only pays tribute to PSY (the Gangnam Oppa) in his styling and dance, but also boldly shows some 'skin.' He laughs and says he's not embarrassed at all: "Basically, as long as we're having fun it's all good!"
This year, Che Zi teamed up with the two founders of Konnective, Christal (Ye Wei Wei) and Wei Pin (Chen Wei Ping), to launch the festive song "Congratulations," which spotlights the cheerful theme of "Congratulations to you nonstop in 2026." This time Che Zi took on three roles: music producer, composer, and lead singer, creating a playful and hilariously entertaining festive tune.
Both the style, dance, and overall direction of the "Congratulations" music video are tributes to PSY, the Gangnam Oppa. Che Zi jokes: "Because both founders are beauties, and I also look a bit like PSY, the inspiration went naturally in that direction, which is how this PSY-inspired song was written."
There are quite a few tongue-in-cheek lyrics in "Congratulations," poking fun at the relative's questioning that everyone is familiar with during Lunar New Year. Che Zi points out, "Relatives always like to ask a lot during the New Year—about your salary, dating, your figure..." He laughs, saying this isn't just his own personal experience, as many people can relate: "It's even worse when you run into gossipy aunts who love to add fuel to the fire, so I hope this song reminds everyone that during New Year, you should say nice things and send well-wishes!"
In the MV, Che Zi plays three roles – an honest young man, a Northeast uncle, and the boss of a sauna, and even does a brand new invented 'horse-riding dance.' He admits: "That's right, it's directly inspired by PSY's style. We kept the dance moves simple—the most important thing is that it's catchy, so everyone can dance along after watching!"
This MV also includes a whole group of friends lending support, including influencer Henn (Guoxian), Elaine Wong, DJ KAKA pretending to be gossipy aunts, and artists/influencers such as Quennie Ong, Clarence Wong, Chen Mingxuan, and Anson Yew. Che Zi reveals: "I just asked them and they agreed right away without a word—almost helping for free! And everyone's performance in the MV is fantastic—they really pulled out all the stops!"
Behind the scenes, the MV was supervised by golden producer Ah Bao (Huang Bao Sheng) himself. Che Zi says: "He already did a lot of filming beyond the original budget—I've really racked up a lot of friendship debts this time, I don't even know how I'll repay them!"
