(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) Held in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei’s birthday celebrations, the “You C1000 Basketball Championship” officially kicked off yesterday at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Gadong, attracting numerous teams and creating a lively atmosphere.
This year’s event has a total of 10 teams registered for both the Men's and Women's Open Divisions, competing for honors in each category.
It is worth mentioning that this year’s tournament has specially added an Under-18 (U18) Men’s Division, with four youth teams participating, providing a platform for young players to showcase their skills and gain match experience. Additionally, the Veterans Division will also take place at a later stage.
The opening ceremony of this championship is scheduled to be held at 7:00 p.m. on June 6. After the opening ceremony, a featured match in the Open Division will take place immediately, with Team WAN SING facing Team Easyway, setting off the first climax of the tournament.
To ensure the smooth running of the event, Hui Huang Enterprises (exclusive distributor of You C1000 sports drink in Brunei) recently handed over a sponsorship cheque worth BND 15,000 and You C1000 sports drinks to the Brunei Basketball Association.
The cheque was received on behalf of the Brunei Basketball Association by its president, Mr. Wu Jixing.
Mr. Wu Jixing expressed his gratitude to Hui Huang Enterprises and You C1000 for their long-term support of basketball, and pointed out that the strong backing from sponsors is a key foundation for the association to continuously host high-level tournaments in Brunei.
He said the sponsorship not only provides participating players with a better playing environment, but also allows basketball fans to enjoy more exciting and entertaining matches.
