(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) forecasts that, due to the indirect influence of Typhoon Kalmaegi, Brunei will experience several days of active weather starting tomorrow. Kalmaegi was upgraded from a severe tropical storm to a typhoon earlier on Monday.

As of 11:00 am on Monday, Kalmaegi was located at 10.3°N, 128.0°E, about 1,500 kilometers from Brunei, and is moving westward away from Brunei. However, the Meteorological Department pointed out that its “outer influence” is expected to bring unstable weather to parts of Brunei.
Active weather is expected to last from Tuesday (November 4) through Friday (November 7), with intermittent heavy rain or thunderstorms in some areas of Brunei and surrounding waters. During heavy rain or in the vicinity of thunderstorms, wind gusts may reach up to 50 kilometers per hour.
Sea conditions are expected to remain light to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 to 1.6 meters.
The department reminds the public to remain vigilant during this period, noting that strong winds may cause trees to fall, roofs to be blown off, and pose a risk of landslides or flash floods, especially in low-lying flood-prone areas or near riverbanks, particularly during periods of continuous heavy rain and high tide.

The department also warns that moderate sea conditions may pose dangers for small boat operators and those engaging in recreational activities at sea.
