Fish Leong's brand new concert tour "Best, If I Don't Sing Love Songs", only kicked off in Shanghai, China two months ago. On January 3, she just finished the Xiamen stop performing in 2°C cold, and it's a crucial time for promotion in China. However, netizens noticed her Weibo is temporarily closed. The message on Weibo reads: "Content is temporarily unavailable and will be restored after 2026-01-15 06:08", causing fans to worry something might have happened and sparking two different theories.
Some fans in Taiwan believe that one of Fish Leong’s signature songs, “Sadly, Not You”, was used by internet trolls to mock political figures with puns, and to prevent this kind of commentary from escalating, her Weibo was temporarily taken down.
But a completely different explanation is circulating on Weibo. Chinese netizens believe that unedited photos of Fish Leong’s fuller figure from the Xiamen concert sparked discussion, affecting her mood and leading her to take a break from Weibo for some peace.
In response, Fish Leong’s management company told Taiwan’s Apple News: “Any discussion about 'Sadly, Not You' is purely outside speculation and has absolutely no connection to the artist’s performance or creative content. Our company will not comment and strongly refutes any unrelated speculation. Meanwhile, the Weibo platform is full of false information and malicious smears. We have officially authorized the concert organizer to immediately begin legal action to pursue responsibility and will fully protect the artist’s rights by law, with zero tolerance. Once again, thank you to everyone for their support and concern for Fish Leong.”
Fish Leong made her debut at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala early last year and was very well received, continuously working ever since. The year before, she also suddenly closed her Facebook and IG accounts, stirring discussion. Her agent responded by saying the singer was fine, and just organizing her social media to spend more time reading and taking photos.
