Dr. Pengiran Mohammad Khalifah, on behalf of the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, awarded certificates of appreciation to partners involved in the "Workplace Mental Health and Well-being as a Basic Right" roadshow yesterday.
The ceremony was held at the Sultanate Islamic Treasure Museum.
He said that we all know mental health issues and care are complex, requiring a comprehensive and integrated approach with close collaboration from all parties."
He stated, "Every contribution, regardless of size, is invaluable in our efforts to raise awareness, reduce stigma and discrimination, and provide quality services to improve the mental health and well-being of the entire community.
He emphasized the importance of continuing our exchange of ideas, sharing experiences, planning more innovative and effective strategies, learning from our successes and challenges, and always being open to new ideas that can further enhance our work in the field of mental health.
"I believe that with a spirit of continuous collaboration and unwavering commitment, we will be able to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for individuals facing mental health issues (especially in the workplace), thereby promoting the mental health of the entire community in Brunei."
The ceremony also saw the distribution of the book "Mental Health and Well-being: Balance and Education of Spirit and Emotion", co-produced by the Ministry of Health and Seri Begawan City Religious University, with support from Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam.
The roadshow was successfully held across all 12 departments from October 2023 to October 2024.
The theme of the roadshow, "Mental Health and Well-being at Work—a Basic Right", was jointly initiated by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The year-long roadshow aims to raise public awareness of mental health prevention and management, promote the importance of self-care, and reduce the stigmatization and negative perceptions of mental health among workplace individuals, especially civil servants.
It also provides a platform for the public, especially civil servants, to interact openly and stigma-free with mental health professionals.
