During the celebration dinner, Dato' Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak (Tourism), called on Fuzhou people to value the inheritance of their dialect, emphasizing that Fuzhou language must be spoken and used regularly, to ensure that linguistic culture is passed down through generations.
He highly commended the Crane Age Club's years of development, evolving from its humble beginnings with only seven members to now over 700 members, as a reflection of the Fuzhou people's unity and diligence.
Dato' Ting expressed: "The term 'Crane Age' symbolizes longevity and wisdom. The elderly are society's most precious asset; their experience and life wisdom are worth cherishing and learning from by the younger generation. Youths should look up to their elders, inherit culture and values from them, and continue to pass on the Fuzhou people's spirit of unity and mutual support."
Event Chairperson and President of the Miri Fuzhou Crane Age Club, Mr. Yu Xian Song, stated that the theme of the celebration, "Rongcheng Crane Shadows, Warmth through Thirty-Five Years," signifies the deep-rooted and flourishing Fuzhou kinship like a banyan tree, and the Crane Age spirit as elegant and evergreen as the silhouette of a crane. For 35 years, the club has always upheld its founding mission, putting members' welfare first and allowing seniors to feel the warmth of home.
