(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) Hsiao Sheng-chung, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei, visited Temburong Peiyu School on March 3rd and, on behalf of the Taiwan Overseas Community Affairs Council, donated two computers as teaching equipment, receiving a warm welcome from the school's Chairman Hsu Han-yang, board members, and principal.

In his remarks, Hsiao Sheng-chung stated that this was his first visit to Temburong Peiyu School since his arrival last May, and he especially brought a welcome gift, donating two computers on behalf of the Overseas Community Affairs Council to help the school enhance its teaching facilities and improve the quality of education.

He said that due to policy factors, Chinese schools in Brunei have not been able to receive government subsidies and thus face certain challenges in raising funds. Nevertheless, all Chinese schools have remained dedicated and continue to develop, which is truly touching.

He pointed out that the Overseas Community Affairs Council and the Brunei Representative Office have always placed great importance on and been concerned about the operation and development of Chinese schools, hoping that Chinese schools will make good use of the various resources provided by the Council to enrich teaching content and improve the effectiveness of Chinese language education.

Hsiao Sheng-chung also said that Taiwan enjoys a good reputation in the fields of technology, medical care, and education. He welcomed teachers, students, and parents of Chinese schools to organize group visits and tours to Taiwan to enhance their understanding and knowledge of Taiwan. He also encouraged outstanding students to pursue further studies in Taiwan and broaden their international perspectives.

Chairman Hsu Han-yang, on behalf of the school, expressed gratitude to the Overseas Community Affairs Council and Hsiao Sheng-chung for their thoughtful donation. Both sides also exchanged views on the development of Chinese schools and Taiwan-Brunei educational exchanges in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
