(Manila, 19th) The Philippine Department of Budget and Management has approved the allocation of 758.459 million pesos for compensating election workers, including teachers, who served in national and local elections, granting each an additional 1000 pesos in pay.

Budget Secretary Amena Pangandaman announced this decision on Monday. She stated that this additional allowance is on top of the 2000 pesos increase originally approved in the 2025 National Budget Bill, and is further added as an extra benefit.

The increase in compensation responds to President Ferdinand Marcos' directive to recognize the significant contributions of election workers and teachers in ensuring a fair and transparent election process.

“We have once again witnessed the dedication of teachers and election workers in safeguarding the votes during this election. Therefore, following the President's directive, we have approved the additional budget to provide them with extra compensation,” Pangandaman stated.

“This is the least we can do to repay their valuable service and is a way to express our gratitude.”

According to the Commission on Elections data, a total of 758,549 election workers participated in assisting with this election. Including this compensation increase, all allowances must be distributed within 10 days after the election concludes.

This measure aims to enhance the attractiveness of election work and acknowledge the efforts of those involved in the democratic process.
