(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) In order to deepen the practice of inclusive education, Sinaran Pelangi School's (Sinaran Pelangi School) Head of Special Education, Nurul Izzah, recently visited the Lee Pesky Learning Center (LPLC) in the United States, gaining advanced experience in early intervention and inclusive education through international exchange. This visit was an important part of her participation in the "Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program" (YSEALI PFP) sponsored by the US State Department.
Located in Boise, Idaho, the Lee Pesky Learning Center is a state Department of Education-recognized non-profit organization known for providing evidence-based instruction and professional support for students with dyslexia, autism spectrum, and other learning differences. This exchange provided Sinaran Pelangi teachers with a professional learning platform focusing on differentiated instruction and early intervention strategies.
During her visit, Teacher Nurul Izzah observed in depth how the center supports students with diverse learning needs through early screening, structured literacy instruction, and individualized intervention programs. She engaged in multiple professional dialogues with the center's education experts and trainers, gaining important insights on strengthening inclusive classroom practices and promoting home-school collaboration to enhance student learning outcomes.

Nurul Izzah noted that this learning experience deepened her understanding of the critical role of early intervention in preventing long-term learning difficulties. "The intervention framework at the Lee Pesky Learning Center is highly valuable for reference, and their dedication to providing tailored support for every learner is truly inspiring. This experience reinforced my belief in advancing early educational support and inclusive systems," she said.
She further emphasized that the knowledge gained through this program will be applied at Sinaran Pelangi School to optimize classroom support strategies, teacher training mechanisms, and intervention plans for students with learning differences. Meanwhile, this international exchange also fostered cross-border collaboration and professional growth among Southeast Asian educators.
Participation in the YSEALI Professional Fellows Program marks an important step for Sinaran Pelangi educators in promoting the development of inclusive education in Brunei. This initiative aligns closely with the school's mission to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and also echoes the national education development goals under the 'Vision 2035'.
