(Manila, 20th) – Presidential Spokesperson Castro stated yesterday that President Marcos is already aware of the controversy involving Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Veloso, and will make a decision after thoroughly studying the allegations.
At a presidential palace press briefing, Castro pointed out that President Marcos has always emphasized that heads of agencies must demonstrate integrity and accountability, but will not make hasty judgments before a comprehensive assessment.
“The President hopes every agency leader can fulfill their duties and demonstrate strong leadership,” she said, adding that the government takes seriously the complaints against Veloso, who is allegedly involved in serious mismanagement and investment violations that resulted in an 8.8 billion peso loss.
She stated that all complaints will be examined in depth, and if the allegations are substantiated, the President will make an appropriate decision based on the investigation results.
When asked if the President is aware of calls from the public for Veloso to resign, Castro responded: “Yes, the President is already aware.”
The presidential palace stated that once the President completes the review, the latest developments will be announced to the public.
