(Yangon, 19th) — Myanmar authorities yesterday arrested 15 Chinese nationals who had illegally entered the country in Myawaddy, Kayin State. They had entered Myanmar through neighboring countries including Thailand and were suspected of involvement in illegal activities such as online gambling and online fraud, with their activities concentrated in areas like 'KK Park' and the 'Kyaukkhat zone.'
According to reports, U Myint Bhone, Deputy Director of the Kayin State Department of Immigration and Population, led relevant officials to investigate the scene, recording the personal information of the detainees in order to arrange their prompt repatriation.
Statistics show that from January 30 to October 19 this year, Myanmar arrested a total of 9,551 foreigners who had entered illegally. Of them, 9,337 have already been repatriated via Thailand according to procedures, while another 214 are still in accommodation and preparing for deportation.
The Myanmar government emphasized that it will continue to crack down severely on online scam centers and their organizers, and will cooperate with multiple countries to repatriate victims of human trafficking and stranded foreign nationals.
