(Miri, 26th) A four-wheel-drive vehicle was involved in an accident last night on Bakong Road near the stretch by the Oil Palm Plantation National School 2, where it lost control, veered off the road, crashed into several trees in the roadside forest, and resulted in the roof caving in severely. The driver was trapped on the spot but fortunately sustained only minor injuries.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre, the accident report was received at 10:30 pm on the 25th, and the Lopeng Fire Station immediately dispatched personnel to the scene. However, due to the accident site being 56 kilometers away, the fire engine only arrived at 11:45 pm.
Upon inspection, it was found that the accident involved a 4WD vehicle, with the driver trapped in the driver’s seat. Rescue personnel immediately used a hydraulic expander to pry open the deformed car door and successfully rescued the driver. The injured party suffered minor head injuries but was conscious and able to walk on their own.
The driver's identity was confirmed as David Uther (40), who has been sent by medical personnel to the Bagan Nuar junction clinic for wound treatment.
