(Kuala Lumpur, 15th) The remains of our country's 5th Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah, have been laid to rest at the National Heroes' Cemetery near the National Mosque at 2:30 PM today, honored with a state funeral.
After the midday prayers, the Grand Imam of the National Mosque, Mohamad Husni, led a prayer ceremony to mourn this former national leader, who is esteemed as the "Father of Human Development".
Those attending the state funeral included his son, Tan Sri Kamaluddin, daughter Nori, and son-in-law Khairy, as well as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar, Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, among others, who paid their final respects to him.
Anwar, along with the cabinet members, arrived at the main prayer hall of the mosque around 1 PM.
The attending ministers included the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Zafrul, Digital Minister Gobind Singh, and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohamad Naim.
Anwar also spent a few minutes consoling Abdullah's family members.
During the period of public condolence, Abdullah's widow, Tun Jeanne Abdullah, daughter Nori, husband Khairy, and other family members were present beside his coffin.
Additionally, Ahmad Zahid and Fadillah also arrived at the mosque around 1 PM and were received by Kamaluddin.
Subsequently, the coffin, draped with the Stripes of Glory, was carried out of the main prayer hall by an honor guard composed of the armed forces and police, and taken to the National Heroes' Cemetery for burial according to the state funeral procedures.
Last night, a statement from the National Heart Institute announced that the 85-year-old Abdullah was admitted for treatment on Sunday morning due to difficulty breathing and unfortunately passed away at 7:10 PM on Monday.
