(Miri, 17th) Miri police held a "Police-Citizen Meeting Day" and a seminar on road safety and drug hazards at the Petronas gas station in Piasau this morning, simultaneously promoting the "Go To Safety Point" (GTSP) program at the station. This event was jointly organized by Miri Police District's Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department and Petronas, attracting Piasau community leaders and local residents to participate.

Nurashyikin Abdullah, Deputy Chief of Miri Police District, attended the event on behalf of Police District Chief Alexson Naga and stated in her speech that the event aimed to strengthen police-community interaction through face-to-face communication, listen to public needs, and work together to maintain community safety. She pointed out that the police, as the frontline force in crime prevention, must collaborate closely with the community and relevant institutions to reduce crime rates.

She emphasized that modern society demands higher standards from police officers, requiring them to possess integrity, responsibility, and high efficiency, to provide quality services to the public, respond quickly to emergencies, meet community needs, and become trusted guardians for residents.

Nurashyikin Abdullah pointed out that the public is also an important supervisor of the police, able to record and report police misconduct using tools such as mobile phones. Meanwhile, she encouraged residents to report criminal activities or provide leads through formal channels, collaborating with the police to create a safe living environment.

She urged citizens to actively communicate with the police, comply with laws and regulations, resolve conflicts reasonably, and jointly maintain community harmony and public order. She specifically mentioned that the police play an important role in residents' lives, from birth registration to handling life's challenges, they are closely connected to the community.

During the event, the "Go To Safety Point" program was highlighted. This program, launched in collaboration between Petronas and the police, ensures that personnel at participating gas stations are professionally trained to assist the public in emergencies. Gas stations serve not only as shelters for those seeking help but also provide emotional support, preliminary first aid care, and assistance in notifying the police or contacting hospitals.

Nurashyikin Abdullah noted that the "Go To Safety Point" program provides greater security for the community, enhancing public assistance channels in times of crisis, and further strengthening police-community partnership.

She expressed gratitude to the event's organizing team and all participants, hoping that similar activities will continuously deepen police-community cooperation, raise community safety awareness, and create a safer and more harmonious living environment for residents.
