(Miri, 3rd) Miri Mayor Adam Yii urges residents not to randomly discard household and garden waste to avoid fines.
He stated that discarding household and garden waste is illegal and is not within the purview of the municipal council's cleaning scope, including household renovation waste. Therefore, violators will be fined if caught.
Adam Yii , who is also the state assemblyman for Pujut, made these remarks during a news conference on a meet-the-people day held by the Miri Municipal Council at UTC.
He mentioned that the municipal council can help manage the waste, but a fee is required. Residents in need can call 085-424111 for inquiries.
He also urged residents and businesses to cooperate by not littering and ensuring that garbage is properly packaged.
This is the Miri Municipal Council's first meet-the-people day event of the year, receiving 12 public requests, including 5 from the engineering department, 4 regarding public cleanliness and maintenance, and 3 landscape complaints.
He noted issues in the engineering department such as cracked drainage walls beside houses, requests for trimming grass in recreational parks, and illegal extensions.
"In terms of public cleanliness, residents have complained about a neighbor's dog defecating in front of their house, causing numerous dog feces daily. They hope the municipal council can monitor the situation in the morning and afternoon."
He also mentioned complaints from business owners about unpleasant odors from large garbage bins near shops, requesting a relocation of these bins.
