This year's conference, themed “Comprehensive Integration of Technological Innovation and Industry,” was opened by Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.
The 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference, jointly organized by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, various State Council ministries and commissions, and the national top academies of science, is a global, comprehensive, open, and high-level international event aimed at promoting global technological innovation.
This conference featured a rich agenda, including high-level forums, major innovation achievement showcases, the Zhongguancun International Technology Trade Fair, and technology cooperation exchanges, with a strong focus on global technology frontier trends and hot topics.
Top scientists, innovators, and entrepreneurs from around the world gathered to discuss the latest developments and global innovation directions in the technology sector.
At the 2026 World Digital Forum held concurrently with the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum, Minister of Health Dato Isham delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the integrated application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in the development of future health ecosystems.
This forum focused on major developments in medical artificial intelligence, big data in life and health, intelligent diagnosis and treatment technologies, as well as prevention and control of major diseases.
The Minister of Health stated in his speech that digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications have already begun to reshape the way medical services are delivered, research is conducted, and public health is governed.
The Minister also praised China for its rapid progress in digital healthcare, particularly in the application of artificial intelligence to diagnosis, clinical decision support, and health data management, and pointed out that this serves as a model for the international community.
In Brunei, as non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity become increasingly prevalent, requiring long-term care, early detection and prevention, behavioral change, and sustained medical resource input, digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence have become crucial to enhancing the efficiency of the healthcare system. They can support healthcare professionals by reducing administrative burdens, improving documentation quality, and supporting clinical decision-making.
At the system level, data analytics can clarify population health trends and guide the development of more effective policy interventions.
The Minister said that the BruHealth application launched during the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into a national digital health platform aimed at improving access to medical services, enhancing citizen engagement, and strengthening health information management.
The BruHealth digital platform has now become an important foundation for developing artificial intelligence capabilities, including long-term predictive analytics and population health management.
The Minister also emphasized that trust, governance, and patient safety must always be prioritized in the implementation of medical technologies.
In addition, the Minister highlighted the importance of international cooperation, especially in the governance of artificial intelligence, data interoperability, and research fields with Chinese medical technology institutions and partners, and stated that Brunei is committed to collaborating with global partners to build a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable healthcare system together.
During his visit to Beijing, Chinese Minister of National Health Commission Lei Haichao and Beijing Mayor Yin Yong met with Brunei's Minister of Health Dato Isham. Both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern and explored cooperation in digital innovation, health technology, joint research projects, and medical professional training.
Furthermore, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Beijing Municipal Government. He invited the Brunei delegation to attend the 2026 ZGC Forum Annual Conference and welcomed information exchange and stronger bilateral cooperation.
Brunei Minister of Health Dato Isham also held a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, during which both sides exchanged views on the development of health departments, strengthened existing relations through joint activities, and agreed to sign new memoranda of understanding in multiple health fields.
