(Brunei, 5th) The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) has received complaints through the Halal Food Control Division of the Islamic Religious Affairs Department regarding cleaning brush sets made from pig bristles.
In a notice addressed to safeguard the interests of the Muslim community in the country, the Islamic Religious Affairs Department has advised owners and managers of business establishments to immediately prohibit the sale of such brushes to the public.
Muslim consumers are also advised not to purchase or use these cleaning brush sets.
The department reminds owners, managers, entrepreneurs, traders, suppliers, and importers of products and consumer goods in the country to stay vigilant and be more sensitive to imported products and goods sold in supermarkets or stores, ensuring that the products are halal and not mixed with non-halal products.
Complaints and information regarding the open sale of non-halal products in business establishments can be forwarded to the Islamic Religious Affairs Department through the Halal Food Control Division by calling the hotline 7166222 or visiting any office of the Halal Food Control Division in each district to lodge a complaint.
