(Reported in Miri on the 26th) The old Miri Municipal administrative building will become an office and training venue for China's Fudan University, and it is expected to be officially opened soon.
"Based on the government-to-government (G2G) cooperation relationship, the Miri Municipal Council has decided to allow Fudan University to use the old building as a consulting office, training center, and exhibition hall. The rent is set at 1 ringgit per year.
He added that he was informed they would carry out extensive renovations to the old building but would need the municipal council's approval.
Currently, the old municipal building is being used as a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) office and a public library.
Adam Yii stated that due to limited parking, the public library has a low utilization rate and is not suitable for a library venue.
"In fact, the municipal council will collaborate with the Ministry of Women, Children, and Community Wellbeing Development to construct a new building, and we plan to relocate the library to the new building."
He said that as for the Sustainable Development Goals team office, there are plans to relocate to the Miri Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) or move to the Miri Green Community Centre located in the Yakin Commercial Center."
