(Kuching, 26th) A 46-year-old local man was arrested the day before yesterday for suspected involvement in a theft case in Taman Jaya, which involved burglary losses of about RM14,000.
Kuching Acting Police District Chief Mohd Sabri Bin Ali yesterday stated in a press release that the suspect was arrested by the Kuching Police Criminal Investigation Team in Stutong on the day of the incident.
He revealed that during the arrest, the police seized various crime-related items and successfully recovered a stolen car.
He said that the investigation confirmed that the suspect is a habitual offender with more than six prior offenses related to drugs and theft.
Mohd Sabri Bin Ali also pointed out that the suspect failed the urine test and has been brought to court by the police to apply for a seven-day remand to assist in the investigation.
He stated that the police will investigate the case under Section 457 of the Penal Code. If found guilty, the suspect faces imprisonment of up to 14 years and may also be fined or caned.
He urged the public to provide any information related to criminal activities by calling the Kuching Police Headquarters command center at 082-244444 or providing clues to the nearest police station.
