On the 3rd, U.S. President Trump held a phone call with Russian President Putin, during which the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, the Ukraine issue, the Middle East situation, and other topics.

That evening at Andrews Air Force Base, Trump told reporters that he and Putin discussed several matters over the phone, including Iran and Ukraine. The call "lasted a long time, but no progress was made." He expressed his dissatisfaction with this.

Additionally, Russian presidential aide Ushakov stated that the call between Putin and Trump lasted nearly one hour, with detailed discussions on Iran and the Middle East situation. The Russian side emphasized that all disputes, differences, and conflicts should be resolved through political and diplomatic means. The Russian and U.S. sides also discussed the latest developments in the Syrian situation and will continue their dialogue on this.

He said that when discussing the Ukraine issue, Trump once again raised the question of ending confrontation as soon as possible. President Putin replied that Russia will continue to seek a resolution to the conflict through political negotiations. Putin briefed Trump on the implementation of the humanitarian agreement reached in the second round of direct Russia-Ukraine talks. President Putin also stated that Russia is ready to continue advancing the negotiation process.

Ushakov said that President Putin emphasized that Russia will achieve its established goals in Ukraine, namely eliminating the "well-known roots" that have led to the current situation and intense confrontation. Russia will not abandon these goals. The Russian and U.S. sides agreed to continue communication through their diplomatic and defense departments as well as presidential aides.
