KUCHING: Sarawak’s Taylor Louise is set to represent Malaysia at the Royal College of Music’s Britten Theatre in London this August, while also making her musical theatre debut at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC).
The 11-year-old will take the stage in both pop and musical theatre at the UK showcase, before starring as the youngest cast member in “Dreamweaver The Musical”, Malaysia’s first English-language musical rooted in indigenous storytelling.
According to a statement, the production, a collaboration between Tanoti and Balkon Media, is scheduled to premiere at PJPAC later this year.
Taylor recently joined rehearsals and expressed her excitement.
“I had so much fun. I laughed so much I had no more energy left! I already love my Dreamweaver fam,” she said.
In 2024, Taylor was crowned Division Champion and Gold First winner at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles.
She later emerged champion at the Asia Students Arts Festival, topping both the Singapore preliminaries and the International Finals held in Hong Kong.
Earlier this year, she flew the Malaysian flag at the Sanremo Junior World Finals in Italy, placing in the global Top 5 and receiving a Special Mention.
Taylor also clinched First Prize in Musical Theatre and Pop at the Song International Singing Competition UK.
Her growing list of accolades includes the Platinum Award from GYMC, Golden Prestige Champion, GASCA International Champion, and Top Gold Prize from the North American Virtuoso International Music Competition.
At the Saint-Saëns International Music Competition, she won both Platinum and Gold Awards, as well as the Saint-Saëns Special Award for Superior Interpretation.
Taylor credited vocal coach Sabrina Tnay for her guidance.
“Coach Sabrina has been such a huge part of my journey. I’m so thankful for her support,” she said.
