(Kuching, 8th) The Kuching District Police Headquarters carried out a 72-hour enhanced operation and successfully cracked down on drug trafficking and abuse activities in the Kuching area. During the “Sarawak Police Contingent Special Filtering Operation” (Op Tapis Khas Kontinjen Sarawak) conducted from January 4 to 6, 2026, a total of 41 people were arrested.
Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu, Kuching District Police Chief, stated that this joint operation was launched based on continuous intelligence gathering and aimed to clean up areas identified as drug activity hotspots.
He said: “During the raids and inspection operations, the police seized various dangerous drugs, including 121.02 grams of methamphetamine, 248.10 grams of MDMA powder, and 9.80 grams of Erimin 5 pills, with a total value of about RM15,532.”

He pointed out in a statement today that five of the suspects are currently being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while the remaining suspects are being detained under relevant legal provisions involving drug possession and abuse.
Alexson emphasized that this operation clearly delivers the police’s “zero tolerance” stance towards any form of drug crime.
“Every piece of information provided by the public is a key to ensuring the success of the operation,” he said.
He added that the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) will continue to strengthen enforcement actions to fully curb the threat of drugs.
The police also urge the public to provide information related to drug activities via the JSJN hotline 012-208 7222 or the Sarawak Police Headquarters JSJN hotline 017-592 9211.
