Government spokesperson and Communications Minister Fahmi stated that if there are still doubts regarding the topic of “New Guidelines for Muslims Participating in Non-Muslim Celebrations and Ceremonies,” inquiries can be directed to the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Mohd Na’im, and the Minister of National Unity, Datuk Aaron Dagang.

After the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Mohd Na’im, revealed that the government will issue new guidelines to regulate Muslim participation in non-Muslim celebrations and ceremonies, which caused an uproar, cabinet discussions on the matter attracted attention today.

When Fahmi was questioned at the usual press conference following the cabinet meeting regarding the cabinet's decision on this matter, he remained tight-lipped, merely directing the media to refer to a joint statement issued by Na’im and Aaron Dagang this afternoon.

Regarding who proposed this guideline, whether departments or relevant individuals will be dealt with; whether the guidelines are mandatory, and if inviting Muslims to participate in non-Muslim activities requires notification, who should receive such notifications, Fahmi still responded with “refer to the statement.”

Nevertheless, he stated that if anyone still has doubts or is confused about this matter, they can also inquire with the Department of Religious Affairs and the Department of National Unity.

“They are acting jointly on this issue, which is why they issued a joint statement, so (if there is confusion) inquiries can be made to both departments.”

When asked about the atmosphere during the cabinet discussion on this issue, he said that the content of the cabinet meeting is a huge secret and if he disclosed the discussion details to the media, he would be subject to action under the Official Secrets Act.
