Thai Entertainment Company GMM Announces Reconciliation, Chinese Female Fan Refutes: I Don't Understand Your Actions

Although Thai entertainment company GMM made a high-profile announcement claiming that both parties in the incident involving a Chinese female fan have “reconciled,” the female fan herself refuted this in a post, saying, “Sorry, I don’t understand your actions.”

On the afternoon of the 28th, GMM issued a statement through its official Chinese account, stating that after the incident, both the event participant and the involved staff member had filed criminal complaints with the police.

The statement said that on July 27, both parties met face-to-face at the police station to exchange views on what happened, and ultimately reached a “friendly reconciliation,” agreeing to withdraw their criminal complaints and mutually not pursue any legal responsibilities.

GMM also pointed out that the young woman involved had voluntarily deleted posts related to the incident from her social media accounts. Furthermore, the staff member who had previously been suspended pending investigation has been reinstated to their original position as a result of the reconciliation between the parties.

After the news of reinstatement was released, the Chinese female fan immediately refuted the statement. She subsequently posted on social media, saying that she did indeed communicate with GMM at the police station in the company of a friend, but is still waiting on further information from the other side, and that the matter is not as “completely resolved” as the public understands.

She emphasized that during the entire negotiation process, she never requested any monetary compensation, nor did she make any demands regarding fan rights compensation. She also rejected rumors circulating online about her seeking compensation, stating that she has complete recordings of the negotiations and media footage from the scene, which can prove such claims are untrue. She called on the public to stop spreading rumors.

Regarding GMM’s premature announcement that both parties had achieved a “friendly reconciliation,” she wrote a thought-provoking sentence:

“Sorry, I don’t understand your actions.”

This statement quickly sparked heated discussion among netizens and raised doubts about whether the “reconciliation” described by the company is significantly different from the understanding of the person involved.

So far, the public statements made by both sides about the incident’s progress have not been consistent. GMM insists the dispute is over, while the young woman says she is still waiting for further information and publicly questions the content of the company’s statement.

Thai Tourism Authority: Valuing the Rights of Tourists to Thailand

Meanwhile, the Tourism Authority of Thailand also issued a statement on the same day, formally apologizing for the concern and trouble the incident has caused.

The statement pointed out that the authorities attach great importance to the rights of every traveller to Thailand. Moving forward, they will strengthen coordination and communication with event organizers and partners, improve event organization, on-site management, and participant protection mechanisms, and enhance information dissemination, on-site communication, and emergency response, in order to avoid similar incidents in the future.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand stated that it hopes to continuously improve event management and service quality to create a safer, more orderly, and friendlier tourism environment for international visitors. It once again apologized for the inconvenience caused by the incident and thanked everyone for their long-standing understanding and support of Thailand.
