(Sibu, 11th) Early this morning, a fire broke out on Jalan Bunga Raya in Sibu, destroying three two-story houses and four cars, and lightly injuring a woman's hand.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the fire occurred at Lot 23A, Lot 23B, and Lot 26A. The house at 23A was completely destroyed, while the other two houses were about 50% damaged. The fire also resulted in four cars being completely burned.
The fire department received the alarm at 1:53 AM and quickly dispatched firefighters from the Sibu Sentral and Sungai Merah stations to the scene.
The fire was brought under control at 2:40 AM, and the entire operation concluded at 3:50 AM.
The injured woman suffered burns to her hand and was given initial treatment by the emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) team from the fire department.
Fortunately, the incident did not result in any fatalities, as all residents managed to escape safely.
A total of 18 firefighters were deployed in this operation, using hoses from two fire engines and taking water from nearby hydrants to extinguish the fire. Cleanup work was also conducted to prevent rekindling.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
