One Dead, Nine Missing After Vehicle Plunges Into River in Huanjiang County, Guangxi

A vehicle carrying 15 people plunged into a river in Huanjiang County, Guangxi, China, resulting in one death and nine people missing.


According to Guangxi "Hechi Rongmei," the Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County People's Government released a situation report in the early hours of Sunday (May 17) regarding the "5·16" Huanjiang pickup truck river accident.


The report stated that at 21:08 on Saturday (May 16), the Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County People's Government received a report that a pickup truck carrying 15 people plunged into the water while crossing a submerged bridge in Kennen Village, Yongquan Village, Luoyang Town.
As of 2 a.m. on the 17th, six people had been rescued and brought ashore, five of whom are not in life-threatening condition, and one showed no vital signs. Rescue operations are ongoing, and further information will be released to the public in a timely manner.
