The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the 11th, saying that as a response to measures taken by Poland, Russia will demand the closure of Poland's Consulate General in Kaliningrad.
In its statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that on the same day, during a meeting with the Polish chargé d'affaires in Russia, Russia stated that, in light of the Polish side's demand for the Russian Consulate General in Krakow to cease operations by June 30, 2025, Russia would also require Poland to close its Consulate General in Kaliningrad by August 29, 2025.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the Polish side, using far-fetched excuses, demanded a reduction in the number of Russian consulates in Poland. The Russian side's action is entirely in response to Poland's unjust and hostile measures. Russia will respond to any unfriendly attacks against the country.
In response, Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wronski pointed out that the Russian Foreign Ministry's decision was 'as expected', stating Poland would take corresponding measures against Russia's move.
On May 12th, Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski announced the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Krakow, citing evidence indicating that Russian intelligence agencies were behind a fire last year at a shopping center in Warsaw.
