Suspected of Breaking into Self-Service Laundromats and Stealing – Man Arrested After Stealing RM11,250

(Bintulu, 3rd) A local man suspected of breaking into two self-service laundromats in Tanjung Kidurong last week and stealing over RM10,000 in cash has been arrested by police.
The case was solved thanks to two segments of CCTV footage that went viral on social media, drawing public attention.
Bintulu District Police Chief, Superintendent Nixon Joshua Ali, stated that the police received a total of three related reports involving incidents that occurred on July 28 and 30.
The first case happened at about 6:15 pm on July 28, while the second and third took place consecutively at about 3:30 am on July 30.
"After launching an investigation, the police successfully identified the suspect through the CCTV recordings and proceeded to arrest him."
"Further investigation found that the suspect had used a hammer and screwdriver to pry open and damage the cash boxes of the washing machines, stealing a total of RM11,250."
He said: "Through this arrest operation, the police also managed to solve another three related cases, thanks to information provided by the public."
Police background checks also found that the suspect’s urine test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, and he has a previous record of drug abuse.
Currently, the suspect has been remanded until August 4 to assist the police in investigations under Section 380 (theft) and Section 427 (mischief) of the Penal Code. If convicted, the maximum penalty is 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Nixon called on the public to continue providing information and cooperate with the police in combating crime together.
