(Miri, 17th) If you are in danger or encounter an emergency, besides seeking help from people around you, you can also go to a gas station for assistance!
The Miri Police District Headquarters Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department held a "Police-Community Day Meeting" and a road safety and drug awareness seminar at the Permy Petronas station this morning. They promoted the "Go-To-Safety-Point" (GTSP) plan to the public and distributed related leaflets and introduced the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) mobile application.
The GTSP plan, launched by the police, aims to provide the public with a safe place to seek help. As of June 1, 2023, 3,092 gas stations nationwide have participated in this plan, including Petronas, Shell, Petron, BHP, and Caltex stations. Among them, Sarawak has 11 Petronas stations, 96 national oil stations, and 98 Shell stations participating in this plan.
Staff at gas stations participating in the GTSP plan receive professional training and can provide immediate assistance when a sudden incident occurs at the station or when a victim seeks help.
In the event of an emergency, the gas station system will directly contact the police control center, and the police will quickly dispatch personnel to the station to provide support to the victim.
VSP App Assists Community Security
At the same time, the police encourage the public to provide information about natural disasters, crimes, and accidents through the VSP mobile application to improve community security.
The emergency assistance provided by the GTSP plan includes vehicle breakdowns, fainting, disputes or fights, smashed car windows, heart attacks, vehicle fires, traffic accidents, robbery cases, and incidents involving women and children.
Through GTSP and VSP, the police hope to further strengthen police-community cooperation to create a safe and harmonious community environment together.
