(United States, 5th) U.S. President Trump, on the 4th, held separate phone calls with Ukrainian President Zelensky and Russian President Putin ahead of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit next week, discussing the Ukraine conflict. Both Russian and Ukrainian sides confirmed the calls with Trump.

Trump, along with heads of state and delegations from 32 countries, is expected to attend the NATO summit to be held on the 7th and 8th in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.

According to international media reports, Zelensky stated that he spoke with President Trump on the day of U.S. Independence Day, and called on the U.S. to show "determination" and help end Russia's over four-year war against Ukraine.

Zelensky said the two agreed to continue discussions during the NATO summit in Turkey next week.

Kremlin aide Oreshkov confirmed that the U.S. and Russian leaders spoke for nearly 90 minutes, during which "the U.S. President once again confirmed he is ready to work towards ending the fighting as soon as possible and finding ways to resolve the crisis."

Oreshkov accused the Kyiv authorities and their European allies of "trying to prolong or even intensify the conflict, and launching terrorist attacks on civilians." He was referring to Ukraine's long-range strikes on Russian targets, especially facilities related to the oil industry.
