(Russia, 5th) The Mayor of Russia’s capital, Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, posted on social media on the 4th, stating that over the past 24 hours, more than 200 Ukrainian drones flew towards Moscow. Most of them were shot down by Russian air defense systems at a distance from Moscow, while 62 drones were shot down as they approached the city.

This is one of the largest drone attacks Moscow has experienced in the past two years.

Russia’s second largest city, Saint Petersburg, also suffered a large-scale drone attack on the same day. An oil terminal in the city’s Kirov district was attacked by drones, but no casualties were reported.

In Leningrad Oblast, adjacent to Saint Petersburg, air defense systems shot down 72 Ukrainian drones in the region’s airspace. The attack injured one person and caused damage to multiple buildings and vehicles.

Ukrainian President Zelensky posted, stating: “The Ukrainian Defense Forces have struck oil facilities at ports that benefit Russia’s war effort, while also targeting important military objectives in Kronstadt, over 850 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.”

Since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, leading to fuel shortages in multiple regions of Russia.
