Chinese boy band 'Teens in Times' (时代少年团) member Yan Haoxiang, 21, was announced by his father Yan Jun on Douyin on the 1st that he has severed their father-son relationship. On the 2nd, Yan's mother Zhou Qiong fired back at Yan Jun in a post, revealing that over the years, despite her objections, Yan Haoxiang gave his father more than 3 million yuan (about 1.74 million ringgit), and also promised to help support his half-sister (same father) to complete her overseas studies as well as pay monthly support to his father. However, Yan Jun demanded more than 10 million yuan (about 5.81 million ringgit), threatening, 'If you don't give it, I will issue a statement to sever the father-son relationship.' Zhou Qiong angrily condemned this as 'filling a bottomless pit' and emphasized that Yan Jun's debts have nothing to do with Yan Haoxiang, firmly stating they'll meet in court.

Zhou Qiong countered Yan Jun in a post on the 2nd, opening by angrily questioning: 'Ask yourself honestly, hasn't Haoxiang shown you enough kindness and righteousness?' She revealed that for years, Yan Haoxiang had resolutely insisted on sending money to his father despite her objections, had promised to support his half-sister to finish her overseas education, and to pay his father's living expenses. 'Even in hardship, he has ensured you can live with dignity. He has fulfilled all his duties to you. And you? Now you ask for over 10 million, threatening to publicly sever ties if he doesn't give it.'

Zhou Qiong emphasized that Yan Jun's debts are from the investments made by him and his current family over the past few years, 'and have absolutely nothing to do with Haoxiang. Stop using the identity of 'father' to force him to fill your bottomless pit, I resolutely disagree!' She also stated she will not speak further online and strongly declared: 'See you in court.'

Reviewing the incident, Yan Jun had suddenly announced on the 1st that he was severing his father-son relationship with Yan Haoxiang, and accused Yan Haoxiang of not making a single call or sending a single message when he was detained over debt issues, saying, 'Showed complete indifference and ruthlessness to my situation, which chilled me to the core.' He stated that he is now relying on himself to gradually pay off the debts.

Regarding this, Yan Haoxiang's agency 'Time Fengjun' also issued a statement on the 2nd, first pointing out that Yan Haoxiang's parents have been divorced for 17 years, but recent conflicts between them left Yan Haoxiang deeply troubled and helpless. 'He has also, therefore, suffered misunderstandings and unprovoked anger from his father, bearing enormous psychological pressure.' The company asked the public to give ample space to Yan Haoxiang and his family, to view their family dispute rationally, and expressed hope that Yan Haoxiang's parents could communicate calmly and resolve their differences as soon as possible.
