72-year-old Chen Yingjie Death Rumors Circulate—Xu Changde Shockingly Reveals: 'Last Week Almost Said Goodbye'

72-year-old veteran Taiwanese singer Chen Yingjie has seen her health repeatedly deteriorate in recent years, as a combination of health issues and legal troubles keep her in the public eye. She was sentenced to three years and two months in prison for instigating the forgery of valuable securities. In October two years ago, she was critically ill due to sepsis and kidney failure. Currently, she has applied for medical parole and remains hospitalized. During this period, there have been several mistaken reports of her death, causing ongoing concern among her fans.

Long-time spokesperson and musician Xu Changde, who has frequently clarified Chen Yingjie’s condition on social media in the past, posted on May 2: “Later, I will update everyone on Teacher Chen Yingjie's situation; maybe this will be the final farewell.” This single sentence instantly drew significant attention.

He then followed up with another post, using a tone similar to a farewell: “If you truly care about whether your life has meant something, you really have succeeded—you have so many songs that have saved so many people. At desperate moments, when a heart is about to take its last breath, some songs really can save lives. As for other debts, to those you weren’t able to make it up to in this life, you can repay them in the next. The simplest farewell is the lightest ending. This isn't relayed on behalf of anyone; these are words from my heart to yours. You can rest assured and soar freely now.”

Xu Changde continued, “Some people asked about Sister Chen’s condition—last week we almost had to say goodbye. These past three years, Sister Chen’s life has truly been sustained by little bits of help from everyone. No surplus; it’s always been just enough to scrape by. Every small donation, apart from what she needs herself, is also shared with several fellow musicians who are struggling just as hard. Sister Chen’s family isn’t able to help financially, but thanks to fans’ generosity, her family has been able to catch their breath during this difficult time, and they are always very grateful.”

Xu also shared that during this period, there has been a stable “three-person team” assisting Chen Yingjie. The three work seamlessly together on what needs to be done, never sitting down to discuss, everything just happening naturally. Now, as Chen Yingjie’s life nears its end, they plan to hold a “farewell concert”—no memorial, no ticket sales, and if there are donations, they will be passed on to other artists in need. “I believe this is the farewell Sister Chen would most want.” The time and location remain to be announced.

When asked by 'Apple News', Chen Yingjie’s friend revealed that her older sister and younger brother continue to visit her in the hospital and, as far as they know, Chen Yingjie’s condition is not serious.
