The incident involving the demolition of a Hindu temple in Rawang, allegedly built illegally, continues to escalate. Police have emphasized that the case is still under investigation, and its nature involves land ownership and illegal demolition, unrelated to racial or religious issues.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazali pointed out that the four men previously detained to assist in the investigation have been released on bail.

He said police are still investigating the case, and so far the investigation has shown that the core dispute centers around land ownership.

He reiterated that this is merely a land dispute and has nothing to do with religion or race.

“The origin of the incident is related to a land use rights dispute, with the Hindu temple building simply located on the concerned land.”

Shazali revealed this when asked about the latest developments during the “Safe Walk, Caring for Kajang Community” event on Saturday. He added that police are still investigating the case.

On Wednesday (11th), police received a report from a local man stating that a Hindu temple in Rawang, alleged to be illegal, was demolished by some individuals without consultation with any authorities or obtaining approval from local authorities.

Police are investigating the case under Section 427 of the Penal Code (mischief), Section 295 (defiling or desecration of a place of worship with intent to insult any religion), Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and Section 447 (criminal trespass).

Any eyewitnesses or persons with information are urged to contact the Gombak District Police investigation officer Inspector Ikma Hakimi (0136117371) or the Gombak District Police Headquarters Operations Room (0361262222).
