MACC, Armed Forces Strengthen Strategic Cooperation To Curb Corruption

PUTRAJAYA, July 7 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation, particularly in intelligence sharing, information exchange and governance enhancement, to bolster anti-corruption efforts and safeguard national interests.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the commission highly values its longstanding cooperation with the Armed Forces and expressed hope that the synergy between the two agencies will continue to grow stronger.

“I believe this synergy will continue to be strengthened, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing, information exchange and governance enhancement, to ensure that anti-corruption efforts can be carried out more effectively in the interest of the nation,” he said during a courtesy call by Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO) director-general Lt Gen Datuk Fazal Abdul Rahman at the MACC headquarters here today.

The courtesy visit was held in conjunction with Fazal's official appointment effective May 21.

Meanwhile, Fazal said the armed forces remained committed to maintaining high standards of governance, prioritising discipline in every aspect of its duties and ensuring that all operations are conducted professionally.

“Close cooperation with the MACC will continue to be strengthened in support of the national integrity and good governance agenda,” he said.

Also present were MACC Intelligence Division senior director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin and MAF Security and Counter Intelligence Directorate director Lt Col Muhamad Zainol Md Yusof.
