The Hong Kong Prince of Love Songs, William So, is currently 57 years old and once rose to fame with classic love songs like “Men Shouldn’t Make Women Cry” and “Old Love Is Still the Most Beautiful.” Having been in the industry for over 30 years, his career has experienced ups and downs in recent years. Recently, news has emerged that the ticket sales for his ‘William So SOLO Concert’ in China are not meeting expectations. Some reports even suggest that tickets are being offered at 60% off yet remain unappealing, sparking online discussions.
William So has been in the industry for more than thirty years. Besides his singing career, he also received positive reviews for his role as Dr. Gill in TVB's drama “Healing Hands.” According to a report by ‘Hong Kong 01,’ his concert in Dongguan recently faced box office challenges. Some netizens revealed ticket prices dropped to 115 yuan (approximately 70 Malaysian Ringgit) but were still unable to remedy the situation. However, upon actually checking the ticket sales website, there are currently no discounts offered, with tickets still being sold at 388 yuan (approximately 237 Malaysian Ringgit) and 588 yuan (approximately 359 Malaysian Ringgit).
Previously, in 2024, when William So held a concert in Malaysia, he candidly admitted to being “outdated.” He mentioned that more than 10 years ago, he performed alongside Andy Hui in front of an audience of over 10,000, but now that number has dwindled to only a quarter. On a different note, he was once teased by netizens for gaining weight. He responded openly, stating that the weight gain was due to the need to take steroids for medical treatment and admitted that due to his family’s medical history, he is at high risk for cancer.
