(Miri, 26th) The Sarawak Basic Needs Assistance Program (SKAS) beneficiary registration event concludes today at the Miri Civil Center. In the past two days, nearly a thousand people were attracted to the site, with 772 successfully registered and 180 failing due to specific reasons.

Deputy Minister of Tourism for Sarawak, Dato' Sebastian Ting, visited the site this morning and revealed that so far, a total of 952 people have participated in the consultation and registration activities, receiving a warm response.

He stated that on the first day of the event (24th), 455 people participated, with 343 successfully completing registration. Another 92 were rejected due to not meeting eligibility criteria, 18 could not complete registration due to not having a smartphone, and 2 failed due to issues with a damaged MyKad.

“Yesterday (25th), the number of participants increased to 497, with 429 successfully registered. However, 37 people were rejected for not meeting qualifications, 17 could not complete registration for lacking a smartphone, and 14 failed due to SPay account suspension or MyKad issues.”

Sebastian Ting praised the three-day event, which will conclude today (26th) at 5 PM. Under the efficient management of officials and staff, the entire process was quick and orderly, ensuring all applicants could smoothly complete registration.

“This program fully reflects the government's commitment to actively listen to public opinion and help grassroots groups solve living difficulties. Having policies is not enough; we also need to ensure that the application process is convenient and efficient so that those who genuinely need help can benefit.”

He called for eligible citizens to actively participate and promised that the government would continue to strive to ensure every citizen in need receives the help they deserve.
